James "Russ" Harris, Waynetown died 4 a.m. Friday in his residence following his battle with cancer.  Mr. Harris was a hair stylist for 39 years and formerly owned and operated Russ Harris & Associates in Crawfordsville.  He retired from hair styling Feb 13, 1998.  He was selected National Hair Stylist of the Year for New Man Hair. He received his real estate brokers license and along with his wife, Marilou, owned and operated Preferred Realty until his retirement in 2004.
His memberships included Waynetown Christian Church where he served as Trustee and Elder; American Legion Post of Crawfordsville, 49-year-member of the Hillsboro Lodge F&AM and Past Master of the Lodge; and Low 12 Club of Wallace. He was graduated from Coal Creek HS in 1954 and was graduated from Indiana Barber's School.  He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the ...  (gone).
He was born Dec 23, 1935 in Lafayette to Charles "Tuck" and Gladys Pauline Thompson Harris. On Nov 16, 1957 he married Marilyn "Marilou" Crowder at Delphi. She survives. Also surviving are three children: Scott Harris and Doug Harris both of Waynetown; Connie Lou (husband Rob) Beals, Charlotte, NC and one grandchild.
Brother Jackie Lee Harris is deceased.
Funeral services are scheduled 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Famil Life Center of the Waynetown Christian Church with Pastor Chris Lawler officiating.  Burial with military services held in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Sunday in the church.  A masonic memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday.
